The mistake most people make

Those veins aren't just cosmetic. They're a warning.

What starts as a few visible veins can end as wounds that won't close.

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a referral to be seen?

No — you can book directly with our office. If your insurance plan requires a referral, our team can coordinate with your primary care physician before your visit, and we handle benefits verification and pre-authorization so you know what to expect.

Is vein treatment covered by insurance?

Usually, yes. Varicose veins, chronic venous insufficiency and dialysis access are medical conditions, not cosmetic ones, and Medicare and the vast majority of major plans cover them when they cause symptoms. A duplex ultrasound at your consultation documents the underlying venous reflux that makes treatment medically necessary.

What happens at my first visit?

A clinical exam plus a duplex ultrasound — a painless scan that maps which veins have failed valves and how severe the reflux is. From there Dr. Anton walks you through the options, which may be compression, lifestyle changes, or a minimally invasive procedure. Sometimes the answer is simply active monitoring.

How long does treatment take, and what is recovery like?

Most procedures are done in our Pompano Beach office in under an hour using only local anesthesia — no general anesthesia and no overnight stay. Most patients walk out and resume normal activity the same day, with the only restriction being no heavy lifting or strenuous exercise for about a week.

Are varicose veins just a cosmetic problem?

They can look cosmetic, but bulging, ropy veins are a sign that the valves inside your veins have failed. Because the underlying problem is mechanical, it does not resolve on its own and tends to progress slowly over years — which is why evaluation is worthwhile even when symptoms are mild.

Do you treat dialysis access problems?

Yes. Dr. Anton is a board-certified interventional nephrologist — the only certified interventional nephrologist in South Florida — and dialysis access is a core part of the practice. That includes AV fistula and graft creation and maintenance, fistulograms, angioplasty and declots, with same-day appointments usually available.
